Music Policy

These Nexus Music Usage Policies (the "Music Policies") govern the use of music within the Nexus platform and all affiliated services. By accessing, uploading, sharing, or promoting content containing music, you agree to adhere to these Music Policies in addition to Nexus’s Terms of Service, Community Guidelines, and any other applicable policies.

These policies apply to all users, including individual creators, businesses, advertisers, and organizations utilizing Nexus’s services to share or promote content containing music. Failure to comply with these Music Policies may result in content restrictions, removal, account suspension, or legal action where applicable.

2. User Responsibility for Music Content:

Users are solely responsible for any music they include in content posted on Nexus. By uploading or sharing content containing music, you affirm that you have obtained all necessary rights, licenses, or permissions to use the music lawfully. Unauthorized use of copyrighted music is strictly prohibited and may result in content removal or other enforcement actions.

Nothing in these Music Policies grants users any rights to music featured within Nexus’s services unless explicitly licensed. Users must ensure that their use of music does not infringe upon third-party copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights.

3. Commercial and Non-Personal Use Restrictions:

Music included in content for commercial purposes (such as advertisements, brand promotions, endorsements, or monetized videos) is subject to stricter licensing requirements. If you intend to use music in any business-related or revenue-generating manner, you must secure appropriate licenses from rights holders before posting.

Commercial or non-personal uses include but are not limited to:

  • Use of music in advertisements, sponsored posts, or paid promotions

  • Use of music in content meant to market or sell products, services, or brand identities

  • Use of music in content that requires users to pay for access, such as premium video content or membership-exclusive material

  • Use of music in live broadcasts that serve a commercial purpose, including performances, online events, or brand-sponsored streams

4. Music Listening Experience Prohibition:

Nexus’s platform is designed for interactive content and community engagement. It is not intended to be used as a dedicated music streaming or listening service. Users are prohibited from posting, sharing, or live-streaming content where the primary purpose is to enable others to listen to music. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Continuous looping of music tracks with little or no additional content

  • Streaming entire albums, mixtapes, or playlists

  • Playing music without any visual or interactive component

  • Hosting virtual radio stations or DJ sets without proper authorization

Violations of this policy may result in content removal, stream interruptions, or account suspension. Users who wish to share music in an authorized manner should explore licensed options available through Nexus’s partnerships and integrations.

5. Music Rights Enforcement & Content Restrictions:

Content containing unauthorized or improperly licensed music may be subject to review, restriction, or removal by Nexus’s automated content detection systems, manual review teams, or third-party rights holders.

Content may be restricted in the following ways:

  • Blocked Content: If a rights holder claims that a user has uploaded music without authorization, the content may be blocked from public view or specific regions where the rights holder enforces their claims.

  • Muted Content: If music in a video is flagged as unauthorized, the audio track may be muted to prevent copyright infringement.

  • Content Removal: In cases of repeated or egregious violations, entire videos, posts, or live streams may be taken down.

Nexus may also notify users of potential violations and provide avenues for resolution, including removing the music, obtaining proper licenses, or appealing the enforcement action.

6. Regional Availability of Music:

Music rights vary by country and territory. As such, even properly licensed music may not be available in all regions. Users should be aware that:

  • Certain tracks, albums, or artists may be restricted from being played in specific geographic locations

  • Live-streamed content featuring music may be unavailable in countries where licensing agreements do not apply

  • Users traveling across borders may experience changes in music availability due to regional policies

Nexus does not guarantee that music included in content will be available globally and reserves the right to block, restrict, or mute music based on territorial licensing constraints.

7. Best Practices for Using Music in Content:

To avoid content restrictions and ensure compliance with Nexus’s Music Policies, users should consider the following guidelines:

  • Use shorter clips: The longer a song is played in content, the more likely it is to trigger content restrictions. Short music snippets (a few seconds) are generally more acceptable than full tracks.

  • Include a visual component: Content should always be focused on an interactive or visual experience rather than purely featuring music.

  • Use royalty-free or licensed music: Nexus offers a library of approved music and sound effects that users may incorporate into their content without copyright concerns.

  • Credit the music creator properly: If you are using licensed or royalty-free music, make sure to provide proper attribution according to the licensing terms.

8. Disputing Music Content Actions:

If users believe their content was mistakenly restricted, blocked, or muted due to an error in music rights enforcement, they may submit an appeal through Nexus’s content dispute resolution system.

Users should be prepared to provide proof of their rights to use the music, such as:

  • Licensing agreements or purchase receipts

  • Written permissions from the copyright holder

  • Proof that the content falls under fair use or another applicable legal exemption

Appeals will be reviewed by Nexus’s content moderation team, and determinations will be made in accordance with applicable copyright laws and policies.

9. Consequences of Repeated Violations:

Repeated or severe violations of Nexus’s Music Policies may lead to:

  • Temporary or permanent suspension of music-related posting privileges

  • Restrictions on live-streaming capabilities

  • Complete account suspension or termination

Users who repeatedly attempt to circumvent these policies, such as by re-uploading blocked content or using misleading metadata, may be subject to stricter penalties.

10. Future Updates to the Music Policies:

Nexus reserves the right to update, modify, or expand these Music Policies at any time. Changes may reflect updates in copyright law, licensing agreements, technological developments, or platform-specific guidelines.

Users will be notified of significant changes through platform notifications, email alerts, or updates posted on Nexus’s policy pages. Continued use of Nexus’s services following policy updates constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
