Spam

At Nexus, we are dedicated to maintaining an environment where users can engage authentically, free from manipulation, deception, or artificial interference. We actively prevent and remove content designed to deceive, mislead, or overwhelm users in ways that artificially increase engagement, inflate viewership, or interfere with the stability and usability of our services.

Spam and deceptive tactics are not just a nuisance—they can erode trust, compromise security, and threaten the integrity of our platform. As these tactics evolve constantly, we continuously adapt our policies and detection methods to stay ahead of new spam strategies while ensuring legitimate user engagement remains protected.

Prohibited Activities and Behaviors:

1. Excessive or Automated Engagement Behavior

To maintain an authentic and organic user experience, we prohibit behavior that artificially inflates engagement, visibility, or reach. This includes:

  • Excessive posting, sharing, or engaging with content at very high frequencies, whether manually or through automation, in ways that overwhelm our platform.

  • Accounts that engage in repetitive posting or spam-like behavior, even at lower frequencies, when combined with other indicators of inauthenticity.

Accounts exhibiting persistent or severe spam behavior may be restricted, suspended, or permanently disabled to prevent abuse.

2. Buying, Selling, or Exchanging Platform Privileges or Engagement

We do not allow monetization or trading of platform assets, privileges, or engagement metrics in ways that undermine the authenticity of interactions. This includes:

  • Selling, buying, or exchanging accounts, Groups, Pages, Events, or other platform entities.

  • Selling, buying, or exchanging admin or moderator roles, site privileges, or permission to post in specific spaces.

  • Selling, buying, or exchanging content or engagement (likes, shares, follows, views, clicks, or use of specific hashtags).

Examples of prohibited engagement schemes include:

  • Giveaways requiring engagement: Offering cash, gift cards, or prizes in exchange for user engagement (e.g., “Like this post for a chance to win $500!”).

  • Incentivized engagement: Promising exclusive content, rewards, or access in exchange for engagement (e.g., “Follow this page to unlock a special video!”).

  • Compulsory engagement actions: Requiring users to like, share, or comment before being allowed to view or interact with promised content.

The only exception applies to Branded Content, which must adhere to our Branded Content Policy and be clearly disclosed as a sponsored or promotional partnership.

3. Misleading or Deceptive Links and Redirects

We take strict action against deceptive link-sharing practices that trick users into clicking on misleading or fraudulent content. This includes:

  • Cloaking: Manipulating our detection systems by showing different content to our enforcement tools than what users actually see.

  • Misleading Links: Sharing URLs or apps that promise one type of content but instead deliver something entirely different.

  • Deceptive Redirects: Websites that change their domain after an action is taken (e.g., CAPTCHA, ad view, forced click) or automatically redirect users to a substantially different website without their consent.

  • Like/Share-Gating: Requiring users to engage with a post (like, share, follow, comment, or tag others) before gaining access to content.

  • Mimicking Platform Features: Impersonating Meta functionalities (e.g., fake fundraising buttons, in-line polls, play buttons, or "Like" buttons) to trick users into taking unintended actions.

  • Manipulative Landing Pages: Using pop-ups, hidden redirects, or confusing UI elements to trap users or generate unintentional clicks.

  • Domain Impersonation: Using typos, misspellings, or deceptive branding to impersonate well-known websites, domains, or brands.

Any deceptive linking behavior that misleads users, manipulates traffic, or threatens security will result in removal, warnings, or account restrictions.

4. Misleading User Experience and Functionality Manipulation

We also restrict deceptive design tactics that manipulate users into interacting with misleading or harmful content. This includes:

  • Fake platform features (e.g., false notifications, progress bars, download buttons) to fraudulently generate engagement.

  • Content gates that require users to engage before unlocking misleading or non-existent content.

  • Manipulative landing pages that trick users into accidental interactions, fraudulent subscriptions, or misleading downloads.

Allowed Activities:

We recognize that some legitimate actions may resemble engagement-boosting strategies but do not violate our policies. These include:

  • Cross-promotion of content, brands, or creators, as long as it is not paid for by a third party to manipulate engagement.

  • Transferring admin or moderator roles for a Group or Page to another interested user, rather than in exchange for money or goods.

  • Sharing Branded Content, provided it follows our Branded Content Policy and includes clear sponsorship disclosure.

How We Enforce These Policies:

To maintain platform integrity, we actively monitor, detect, and penalize accounts and entities that engage in spam or deceptive behavior. Enforcement actions include:

  • Reducing reach and visibility of deceptive or spam-like content.

  • Restricting or disabling accounts, Groups, or Pages that repeatedly violate engagement policies.

  • Blocking deceptive URLs, landing pages, or domains that impersonate trusted sites.

  • Labeling misleading content to warn users before they engage with deceptive materials.

  • Banning accounts or entities that persistently abuse platform functionality.

Keeping Up With Evolving Spam Tactics:

Spam constantly evolves, so we continuously update our detection and enforcement strategies to identify and eliminate emerging threats. Our efforts include:

  • Leveraging AI and machine learning to detect suspicious posting patterns, engagement inflation, and deceptive link-sharing.

  • Collaborating with cybersecurity experts and industry partners to track and combat new spam tactics.

  • Educating users on how to identify, avoid, and report deceptive content.

By taking aggressive, proactive measures, we ensure that our platform remains a trusted space where users can interact authentically and safely, without the interference of spam, deception, or artificial engagement tactics.
