Developer Policies
The Nexus Developer Platform ("Platform") comprises APIs, SDKs, tools, plugins, code, technology, content, and services that allow developers and website operators to build functionality, retrieve data from Nexus, and provide data to Nexus.
By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to comply with these Developer Policies and all related Developer Documentation, collectively referred to as the Platform Terms. Capitalized terms not defined herein carry the meaning given in the Platform Terms. Your use of the Platform is subject to the Platform Terms and all applicable Nexus terms and policies.
1. Build a Trustworthy Product:
The following policies apply to all uses of the Platform:
Authenticity: Develop and manage your application with an authentic, verified account.
Content Standards: Ensure that your app’s content, including advertisements and user-generated content, adheres to Nexus Community Standards.
Advertising Standards: Follow Nexus Advertising Standards for your app’s name, icons, and description.
Honesty: Do not confuse, deceive, defraud, mislead, spam, or surprise users.
Security: Do not use your app to host, promote, or distribute malware, spyware, adware, or any other malicious software or code.
Documentation Compliance: Follow any specific instructions outlined in Nexus Developer Documentation, including usage restrictions.
User Consent: Obtain explicit consent from users before publishing content or taking actions on their behalf.
Support Access: Provide users with an easily accessible way to request support or report issues.
Promotion Compliance: If you administer promotions on Nexus Products, comply with all relevant guidelines, including the Nexus Promotion Policies.
Utility Standards: Apps with minimal utility, particularly those offering personality assessments or similar outputs, may be restricted from the Platform.
2. Encourage Proper Use:
The following policies apply to all uses of the Platform:
Legal Compliance: Restrict access to your content in compliance with all applicable laws, including geofiltering or age-gating where required.
Respect for Platform Design: Do not alter the appearance or functionality of Nexus Products beyond the limits set by Nexus.
Login Integration: Verify correct integration of Nexus Login to ensure stable app functionality.
Brand Use: Follow the Nexus Brand Resource Guidelines for any use of Nexus logos or branding.
Transparency: Be honest about your relationship with Nexus in communications with the press or users, and obtain approval before issuing formal announcements mentioning Nexus.
Stories Integration:
Stories must not include logos, watermarks, calls-to-action, or promotional content.
Stories with Attribution must not be generic and must link to relevant, unique content.
Prohibited Activities: Do not engage in programs that promote or facilitate the purchase, sale, or exchange of Likes, Shares, Followers, or other Nexus features.
Gambling and Lotteries: Obtain written permission from Nexus before using Nexus Products for online gambling, real money games of skill, or lotteries.
3. Things You Should Know:
Contact Sharing: Nexus may share your contact information with people who want to reach you regarding your app.
Usage Limits: Apps exceeding 5M Monthly Active Users (MAU), 100M API calls per day, or 50M impressions per day may be subject to additional terms.
Developer Communication: Nexus communicates with developers through Developer Alerts and emails from nexus.com domains. Ensure your contact information is up-to-date.
App Store Publication: iOS and Android apps must be published on supported app stores.
Business Manager Accuracy: Keep your Nexus Business Manager account accurate and up-to-date.
Negative Experience Enforcement: If your app creates a negative user experience, Nexus may enforce additional guidelines or take action against your app.
Server Stability: Nexus may take action against apps that negatively impact server stability or other apps on the Platform.
4. Games:
Nexus Gaming Policies
These policies apply to all Nexus Gaming Products and Unconnected Games:
API Usage: Use only Nexus-owned APIs for processing in-game purchases.
In-Game Payments: Charge for items in your game according to the In-Game Payments Terms.
Disclosure: If your game includes mandatory or optional in-app purchases, disclose this in your app’s description.
Game Submission: Do not submit the same game multiple times. Update existing games.
Game Descriptions: Keep your game’s description and categorization current.
Promotional Content: Do not include promotional content in game icons.
Instant Games
Additional policies for Instant Games:
Data Collection: Do not collect personal or sensitive user data.
User Profiles: Do not build or modify user profiles with identifiers.
Game Quality: Adhere to Nexus Game Quality Guidelines.
Ads: Only use the Games Ads API for in-game ads.
Context Dialogs: Show context dialogs only after user actions.
Messenger Updates: Do not use updates to promote or upsell products.
Network Restrictions: Nexus may require loading games in network-restricted environments.
5. Community Messaging APIs and Plugins:
These policies apply to Nexus Messaging APIs and plugins:
Integration Stability: Ensure stable integration with Nexus Messaging APIs.
User Consent: Obtain necessary consent before contacting users.
Opt-Out: Immediately honor all opt-out requests.
Messaging Plugins: Do not obscure or hide elements of plugins.
Tech Providers: Ensure compliance with all applicable Nexus terms and policies.
Negative Feedback: Community Messaging experiences with excessive negative feedback may be limited or removed.
6. Community Platform:
User Content Compliance: Comply with any restrictions imposed by content owners.
Profile Restrictions: Do not use the Community Platform solely for displaying or backing up content.
Demographic Clustering: Do not create demographic clusters for targeting users.
7. Marketplace Platform:
Seller Agreement Compliance: Ensure customers comply with Nexus Seller Agreement.
Lead Data Use: Do not use lead data for purposes beyond contacting users about specific listings.
8. Commerce Platform:
Seller Agreement Compliance: Ensure customers comply with Nexus Seller Agreement.
Feature Implementation: Implement updates and features as directed by Nexus.
9. Live API:
Content Disclosure: Clearly distinguish pre-recorded content from live content.
Looping Videos: Do not publish looping videos or static images as live content.
Ad Restrictions: Do not include third-party ads in live content.
10. Ads:
Ad Standards: Comply with Nexus Advertising Standards.
Ad Placement: Do not include third-party ads in posts, comments, or messages.
Transparency: Disclose spending and fee structures to advertisers.
Data Use: Use advertising data only as permitted by Nexus policies.
11. Pages API:
Policy Compliance: Comply with Nexus Pages, Groups, and Events Policies.
Page Creation: Do not charge fees for creating or claiming Pages.
Access Restrictions: Do not prevent users from accessing Pages created on their behalf.
12. Social Plugins
Ad Integration: Do not pair social plugins with non-Nexus ads.
Plugin Visibility: Do not obscure or cover plugin elements.
13. Payments:
Payment Terms: Comply with Nexus Developer Payments Terms.
Charitable Causes: Obtain permission before soliciting funds for charitable causes.
Platform Payments: Accept payments only within your app.
By following these Developer Policies, you help maintain a secure, trustworthy, and high-quality environment on the Nexus Platform. Failure to comply may result in enforcement actions, including the removal of your app from the Platform.
