Photography Preparations

Before we bring our professional real estate photographer to your property, the first step is to prepare your home for picture-taking! Now is the time to put every effort into making your place perfect. There’s no purpose in getting photos of your property taken if your house isn’t looking its best.

Cleaning

Do an extensive clean of each room in the house, either by bringing in a professional cleaning service or devoting a weekend cleaning the property yourself. Clean the windows (indoors and outdoors), make the beds, dust, vacuum, and get the fingerprints off your stainless steel appliances.

Decluttering

There’s nothing worse in real estate photographs than a mess with a lot of clutter. Remove small items from the table, remove toiletries such as toothbrushes and combs, remove visible wires and threads, put the TV remotes in the shelf or closet, and finally go through the pile of mail. Be sure to clean your garage or workshop when taking photos.

Depersonalize

You’ll need to ensure people interested in your property can imagine themselves living in the home, and they can’t do that with your personal belongings in every photograph. It takes a few minutes to hide family photos, fridge magnets, toys, pet supplies and more.

Staging

Go to every room with a sharp eye, making small adjustments that can make a big difference: Open the curtains, turn on the lights and add details to make the room attractive and charming.

Windows

Natural light is crucial to the mood of your property and the impression to people interested in your home as well, and window screens dim natural light and make windows look gloomy in photographs. Think about removing your window screens before the real estate photographer comes to the property, primarily if you plan to captivate high-value views.

Color

Show your home’s photos with splashes of color, like vivid flowers, an elegant throw pillow, or a homey blanket.
