Violent and Graphic Content
Nexus understands that graphic and violent imagery can be deeply disturbing to many users. To balance freedom of expression, public awareness, and user safety, we remove the most extreme forms of graphic content and apply warning labels to content that, while sensitive, may serve a legitimate purpose such as raising awareness of human rights violations or armed conflict.
For users under 18, Nexus may restrict access to certain violent content by implementing age-gating measures. We recognize that users sometimes share graphic content to document atrocities, highlight important issues, or condemn violent acts, and our policies allow for discussion and awareness-raising in these contexts. However, sadistic or celebratory remarks about violence and suffering are strictly prohibited.
Restrictions In Advertisements:
We impose additional protections on ads, prohibiting shocking, gruesome, or sensational imagery. Content deemed sensitive or disturbing is not eligible to run as an ad.
Prohibited Content:
Nexus removes the following graphic content when it is not presented in a medical, journalistic, or educational context:
Graphic Imagery Of People
Videos and images depicting:
Dismemberment, including severed limbs or decapitation.
Exposed internal organs, bones, or muscle tissue in non-medical settings.
Burning or charred bodies, including those subjected to immolation.
Throat-slitting or execution-style killings.
Live-streams of capital punishment.
Sadistic Or Celebratory Remarks
We remove any content containing comments, captions, or discussions that express joy, amusement, or pleasure in response to suffering or violence, including:
Celebrating or mocking graphic injuries or deaths.
Making degrading comments about victims of violence.
Sadistic remarks about animal suffering.
Exceptions:
Self-defense content (e.g., videos of individuals defending themselves from attackers) may be allowed.
Medical contexts, such as surgical procedures or emergency response efforts, are permitted.
Warning Labels & Age Restrictions (18+):
For the following graphic content, we limit visibility to adults (18+) and apply a warning screen before users can view it:

Enforcement & Special Considerations:
In some cases, Nexus requires additional context before determining whether content should be removed.
Removal Requests From Family Members
We remove graphic content depicting a person’s violent death when requested by:
A verified family member of the deceased.
An authorized legal representative.
Audio Recordings Of Deaths
If a video includes audio recordings of a confirmed violent death, we remove it upon request from a family member, law enforcement, or trusted partners.
Self-Immolation As Protest
Videos of self-immolation for political protest are removed, as they may inspire imitation.
Policy Enforcement & Monitoring:
Nexus uses AI moderation, user reports, and expert review to detect and remove graphic and violent content. Our enforcement includes:
Immediate removal of prohibited content.
Applying warning labels to sensitive but permitted content.
Age-restricting content involving extreme violence or medical trauma.
Banning repeat violators who post excessively graphic content.
Policy Updates & Amendments:
This policy is subject to ongoing review in response to technological advances, evolving global events, and feedback from safety experts. Updates take effect immediately upon publication.
