Understanding the Costs of Rekeying for Enhanced Security

When you have tenants, ensuring their safety and security, as well as reducing potential liabilities for yourself, is a paramount concern. One of the fundamental ways to maintain this safety is by controlling access to the property. This is achieved by routinely changing the keys each time a new tenant occupies the unit.

To enhance security further, the first time we undertake the task of rekeying a unit for you, we will introduce state-of-the-art Smartlocks. These aren't just regular locks; they represent a significant upgrade in terms of security and convenience. Now, it's true that the initial setup might seem like an investment, but it’s a strategic one. Not only does it give both you and your tenant peace of mind, but in the long run, it also proves to be cost-effective.

Once the Smartlocks are in place, every subsequent rekeying will be much more budget-friendly. So, over time, you're not just ensuring top-notch security, but you're also witnessing savings with each tenant turnover.

Now, let's break down the cost structure for rekeying:

  1. Service Call Charge: Every time the rekeying service is availed, there's a basic service fee of $45.00. This covers the service provider's visit to the property and the basic assessment.

  2. Per Lock Rekeying Cost: For each individual lock that needs rekeying, there's a charge of $9.00. This is the actual process of changing the lock mechanism to accept a new key.

  3. Key Copies: As a standard, we provide three copies of the key for a charge of $3.74. Additionally, we offer two key copies absolutely free. This means that if you opt for the standard three copies, you'll actually receive a total of five keys, providing ample backups for tenants or property managers.

In summary, rekeying is not just a task; it's an investment in the safety of your property and your tenants. The costs associated, especially after the initial setup, are quite reasonable and will ensure you're not only saving money but also providing a secure environment for your tenants.
